Admisson daily tour: free!!! The garden plaza in front of the cathedral may be called "The Lustgarten" (English: "Pleasure Garden") but not to get the wrong idea, originally a private garden, it has been used as a parade ground, a place for mass rallies and a public park... Anyhow, the largest Protestant church in Germany, is not only a must for church-lovers, the cathedral's magnificent interior, which is more typical to be found in Catholic churches, is likely to stun anybody. Built from 1894-1905 and once 114 meters high, the main dome with the cross is now, after its rebuilding due to severe damage during WWll, only 98 meters high and designed more simply. Visitors can also enter the Hohenzollern crypt housing seventy coffins, including the resplendent sarcophagus of the Great Elector and his wife Dorothea.However, besides the Reichstag, The cathedral is regarded as the main works of "Wilhelm baroque" and exemplary in its excessive size and form - all together a symbol of the Hohenzollerns' religious concept of divine favour- best to be visited as part of a concert visit (e.g.organ concerts) in this unique setting...
