Amélie is looking for love, life and just something more than her sometimes ordinary existence as a waitress in Paris. The film throws us a glimpse of her quirky childhood and the whimsical, imaginative young woman she has become.
Aside from her waitressing job in the beautiful Montmartre quartier, she spends her time daydreaming and interacting curiously with her neighbors and customers. A chance encounter with a collector of torn up passport photos from the Paris metros leads Amélie to realize that the only way to happiness is to take a leap of faith and a spoonful of her own medicine...
Amelie is on the hunt for the mysterious Dominique ‘Bretodeau’ in order to return to him his box of precious mementoes. She leaves the box in a phone booth at the northern end of rue Mouffetard and rue Clovis, down in the cosmopolitan Latin Quarter. The bar where she overhears the result of her good deed is just to the south, Le Verre a Pied, bis rue Mouffetard number 118.
