Amélie is looking for love, life and just something more than her sometimes ordinary existence as a waitress in Paris. The film throws us a glimpse of her quirky childhood and the whimsical, imaginative young woman she has become.
Aside from her waitressing job in the beautiful Montmartre quartier, she spends her time daydreaming and interacting curiously with her neighbors and customers. A chance encounter with a collector of torn up passport photos from the Paris metros leads Amélie to realize that the only way to happiness is to take a leap of faith and a spoonful of her own medicine...
In the movie, Nino works in the raunchy Palace Video store, a sex shop in the kinky Pigalle district. If you're that way inclined, you'll find the somewhat touristy Moulin Rouge (yes, *that* one!) in the same area. It'll break the bank, but at least you can say you've seen it!
