Amélie is looking for love, life and just something more than her sometimes ordinary existence as a waitress in Paris. The film throws us a glimpse of her quirky childhood and the whimsical, imaginative young woman she has become.

Aside from her waitressing job in the beautiful Montmartre quartier, she spends her time daydreaming and interacting curiously with her neighbors and customers. A chance encounter with a collector of torn up passport photos from the Paris metros leads Amélie to realize that the only way to happiness is to take a leap of faith and a spoonful of her own medicine...

The last location on the Amélie daytrip has to be the super quirky art deco cafe where Amelie works, the real life Café Deux Moulins (The Two Windmills Café).

The café can be a bit tricky to find: it's on the rue Lepic, which snakes down from Place du Tertre then seems to merge into rue des Abbesses. As a matter of fact, the street turns sharply south, and the cafe is south of rue des Abbesses.

ADDRESS: rue Lepic 15
75018 Paris, France
TRANSPORT:Blanche Métro stop, and just a minute's walk up the hill!

Sadly, this wee café is a bit too touristy for my liking now. If you're after a drink and a bite to eat à la Parisienne, try one of the lesser known places. But, it's worth coming here just to see where the movie was filmed. It *is* quite cute, if you can get past the commercialisation. xx
