Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno Marça de los Remedios Crispín Crispiniano de la Santíssima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso: guess anyone with such a name is simply meant for something big...
Anyway, better known under the name Pablo Picasso, this Spanish painter and sculptor became one of the most recognized figures in 20th century art.
The co-founder of cubism produced a large numner of works, an estimated 13,500 paintings or designs, 100,000 prints or engravings, 34,000 book illustrations and 300 sculptures or ceramics, before dying during a dinner with his wife and friends, saying goodbye with the final words "Drink to me, drink to my health, you know I can't drink any more."
Ready to check out the master's periods? Welcome to the Museu Picasso (Picasso Museum) with one of the most extensive collections of artworks by Picasso and housed in five adjoining medieval palaces in Barcelona's Barri Gotic.
Due to its worldwide high profile, this museum is one of the most popular and most visited museums in the city. The big part of the permanent collection of the museum, consisting of 3,500 works, belongs to his early works, produced while living in Barcelona.
Therefore, the museum is particularly dealing with Picasso's close relationship with the city of Barcelona, a relationship starting in his youth, continuing in his adolescence and lasting until his death.

The exhibition itself and the collection of early works of Picasso are great, but the most amazing thing about this museum is IMHO the place! The Museum is located in 5 adjacent gothic palaces from the XIV century. The whole Montcada street was like 5th Avenue for the medieval Barcelona, the palaces belonged to rich merchants. The courtyards and the pointed arch windows are wonderful.
