Probably one of the biggest “grandfather clocks” in the world, the famous bell tower Big Ben is supposed to be the most significant part of the Palace of Westminster which is home to the Houses of Parliament.
Admission is free to all the areas of the building as well as visiting sittings of parliament. In addition you can take part in guided tours to the inside of the bell tower.
By the way, “Ben” actually doesn’t refer to the whole tower but only the bell inside of it, first of all famous because of its impressing chimes. It was named after Benjamin Hall - one of the site managers at the time Westminster Palace was constructed.

The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are two of the famous sights in London, so if you are in town and don't have much time, I'm sure you will be happy to know that they are both together. They also have the authority and majesty that would be expected from buildings of such great importance.
