Talking about Notre Dame one repeatedly gets told one thing: "At first sight- it took my breath away"
Besides, most people may have to admit that theit most vivid memory of Notre Dame is probably build on watching a Disney movie. Once, Victor Hugo wrote his incredibly popular Notre Dame de Paris which was later given a happy ending by Disney
Anyway, build in 1182, Notre Dame has since been a major Parisian landmark. Once suffering from revolutionaries on the rampage, today it is the large number of tourist which is meant to be outlived.
Over the time, the cathedral was visited by many, crusaders praying here before leaving for the holy wars, or Napoleon crowning himself and his wife emperor and empress of France as well as General de Gaulle rushing here to give thanks after the liberation of Paris.
There are many ways to get to know the old lady and her incredible interior, stand in the the rear and get an excellent view of its flying buttresses, gaze at her we- inspiring rose windows or do- the-Quasimodo and climb the stairs to the top off the bell tower.
Recommendation: As usual- the early bird gets the worm. Long queues to be expected from late morning!!!

Everything about this cathedral is beautiful - the architecture, the grounds, the interior. Take your time and take some uncooked rice to feed to the birds outside. You're not really supposed to, but if you hold the rice in your hand and hold your hand up, hundreds of tiny sparrows will come and land on you :D
