Intimidated by museums, cultural institutions and alike?! The good news is, you do not really have to set foot in the Centre Pompidou to have a good time...
Get a glimpse of modern art and be animated by mimes, street portraitists and entertainers while sipping on a coffee- without even entering!
The Place Beaubourg, the square in front of the Centre Pompidou, is very popular itself and mostly packed by a lively crowed. However, just a quick turn right heading towards the place Igor Stravinsky and you can orbit the several kinetic sculptures, designed by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely, part of the first modern fountain in Paris.
Opened in 1977 and usually designed to welcome about 5.000 visitors a day, nowadays it is more like 25.000 art lovers entering the cultural centre a day, which is much more than a museum, also housing a popular library, a bookshop, a movie theater and a panoramic terrace on several floors besides one of the world's most important museums of modern art, the MNAM.
